Varieties of ferns suitable for home cultivation

Adiantum capillus-veneris

This is a very popular small fern that is perfect for growing in pots. The maidenhair fern has slender lines and petite leaves, generally showing a fluffy and drooping posture, and has a very beautiful appearance. However, this fern prefers warmer environments and needs to be moved indoors during the winter at very cold high latitudes.

Nephrolepis cordifolia

Commonly found in outdoor landscaping in warmer regions, this fern is a beautiful and tough plant with the ability to purify the air. Its leaves are lanceolate and green in color. Because it looks like a centipede, it is also called "centipede grass". Kidney ferns don't like severe cold either, so they need to be moved indoors for maintenance during winter in high latitudes.

Ostrich Fern

The pod fern has a tall and beautiful appearance. When its branches and leaves are unfolded, they will leave furry curly heads. The visual effect after forming a clump is very beautiful. This kind of fern is resistant to high temperatures and severe cold. It can be planted directly in the courtyard and does not require much care. In addition, pod fern can also be eaten as a wild vegetable. It has a fragrant flavor like cucumber and is delicious stir-fried or cold.

Autumn fern

This fern is also called the "rainbow fern" because it comes in three colors: red, yellow, and green, and its leaves look fluffy and gorgeous when unfolded. The plant is also not very tolerant of severe cold.

Japanese painted fern

The sporangia of these ferns look like horseshoes, hence the name. There are several different varieties, but all have short stature, dark red leaf veins, and cold hardiness. As the weather gets colder, the veins of the Japanese hoof fern will turn darker and darker purple-red, while the leaves will become more and more obvious silvery white. The combination of the two colors looks very unique.

In general, there are hundreds of varieties of ferns, some of which are beautiful and tough, making them very suitable for home planting. In addition, most of them have strong adaptability and do not require much care to bring benefits to the home. A different kind of beauty.
